Start designing with Atlas
Open Atlas, choose an organisation and create your first cloud architecture design.
A design workspace
Atlas lets you arrange cloud resources in a 3D workspace and save the design. An Atlas deployment is a cloud architecture design. Creating a deployment, placing a resource or pressing Save does not provision AWS infrastructure.
The current product calls its workspaces deployments and its access groups organisations. A project link can be a compatibility entry point; use the visible Deployments navigation for normal work. This guide covers the publicly available WebGL/desktop experience.
Your first design
- Open Atlas development and choose Open Atlas. The documentation site itself needs no account.
- Choose Continue to sign in and complete the configured identity-provider flow. See account access.
- If you have no accessible organisation, use Create your organisation or accept a pending invitation. Otherwise select the correct organisation in Active organisation.
- Open Deployments. If you have Owner or Editor organisation access, choose New deployment, enter a Deployment name (up to 200 characters), then Create deployment.
- Choose Open deployment. Wait for the Deployment editor to finish loading and restoring any saved design.
- Use the editor global menu to create resources. Read editor controls before editing. Apply inspector drafts, then Save the design.
Where to go next
Learn ownership, placement and references before building a hierarchy. Browse the AWS Account, VPC and Subnet guides, then follow the Load Balancer and RDS examples.
The docs work on a phone; the editor instructions assume a keyboard and mouse. For startup or access errors, use troubleshooting.
